ABOUT ABOUT

On January 28, 2023, the Winter Bluegrass Jubilee Celebration at Pickens High School will feature over 5 hours of performances, jam rooms, and workshops with music and Appalachian heritage themes.  Doors open at 12:30 pm with performances starting at 1 and lasting until 6:30 pm.

This year’s performers include Shawn Lane and Sons (3-3:30 guitar workshop with Shawn Lane, 5-6:15 pm main stage performance, 6:15-6:30 pm main stage finale), Carley Arrowood (3-3:30 pm fiddle workshop, 4-4:45 pm main stage performance), The Foreign Landers (3-3:45 pm main stage performance, 4-4:30 pm mandolin workshop with David Benedict), The Wilder Flower (1-1:45 pm main stage, 2:45-3 pm side stage), the Sweet Potato Pie Kids (2-2:45 pm main stage, 3:45-4 pm side stage) and the Young Appalachian Musicians (6:15-6:30 pm main stage finale).

There will be a jamming room all day long, where our performing musicians will be dropping in and picking along with our audience.  There will also be three workshops throughout the day offered by our performing musicians.  Shawn Lane will offer a guitar workshop from 3 to 3:30.  Carley Arrowood will offer a fiddle workshop at that same time.  David Benedict, of The Foreign Landers, will offer a mandolin workshop from 4 to 4:30.  All workshops are included with your entry fee.

This year we are inaugurating an Instrument-A-Thon.  We will have a donation station where you can make a pledge to purchase an instrument for the program.  You can also bring a playable instrument in exchange for your entry.  We will accept donations of gently used guitars, mandolins, banjos, and fiddles.
